About the Piece
This piece was something that came to me thinking about the ideals people have around beautiful tropical water having this teal tone. People view water in these areas with a pristine quality- something that is the ultimate luxury, clarity, and almost blissful. I have been exploring the differing shades of blue and different refractions of light and how that affects water- something that typically appears clear or cloudy, without any real color. However we know that the color of water is really a reflection of green and blue light but absorbing red and orange colors. I find that very fascinating in general and love using white and reflections to highlight the depth and capacity of color.
I want people to look at this piece and remember their time, their experience, in this kind of water, this kind of environment and how it really all is just light reflecting and a human perception. That’s something that can all be brought to you, or with you wherever you go.
