About the Piece
This piece was inspired by deep, dark jungles filled with beautiful, vibrant greens. I wanted layers of paint, color, and texture to reflect the layers of leaves and foliage you’d find there — monstera leaves and their tropical counterparts growing over, under, and through one another.
This was also one of the pieces I spent the most time on. I spent hours working through the meticulous details, building textures, and layering colors that fade into one another to create all of the depth you see throughout the piece.
With this piece, I really wanted to explore texture, gloss, and shine, and the different ways they can interact with color and build onto each other to create something dynamic. Depending on where you’re standing and how the light hits it, different leaves, textures, and details come forward, creating a piece that feels multidimensional and alive.
