About the Piece
This piece was painted once, then completely done over with texture and had to be painted again. For me, that feels like a big part of the story behind this painting. Sometimes you make something on and doing the hard thing of destroying something to create something even more beautiful after. The texture on the flowers, lily pads, and water I absolutely adore. Only in some places it shines, allowing vibrant streaks of water to catch the light. Sometimes you have to see the way something can be better, even when it means breaking down something else to build it.
